Done this route a dozen times, tons of traffic and never fails. Waited between 3-20 minutes, average ~10.―Kait~

There is a Copec gas station here. We stayed here with a sign saying "El sur" and after one hour someone driving to Rancagua (70km south of Santiago) dropped us on another copec station on the highway number 5.―Anonymous

West towards Valparaiso, Viña del Mar. Petrobras service station. You can get here by bus J12 from Pajaritos metro station. Get off at Pasarela Pedro Jorquera. Walk a few hundred metres west along the motorway.―Anonymous

I hitched from here simply because it was close to my host. There is not a lot of space to pull over safely so this spot would not be good during heavy traffic.―Anonymous

Buin is reached by the micro from La Cisterna Metro station for 1500CLP with blue micro, ask around for right direction, metro station has few exits. However Shell in Buin is inside the town so you get mostly local cars. Yellow line you see is a shoulder road separated from autopista by fence and is a bit senseless. Driver point that they entering the town and very few leaves it to further south.
